My Great Story

Past
Ever since I was a little kid I knew from the start what I wanted to be when I grew up. A professional football player. Whenever I told anybody this they will tell me "What is your backup plan?" and I never had that answer. I was born in Oakland, CA in a two bedroom house with seven other family members. Growing up I never had that much, especially after my parents got separated. I'm the oldest out of all of my siblings and had to step up at the age of ten to be the father figure for them. My mother worked two jobs so that she can make sure that she had food on the table, that we had water and lights, and provided a roof over our heads at night. My job was to make sure that I keep my siblings on track by feeding them, taking them to school, and to just be a role model for them to follow after. I'm so grateful for what my mother did for us, and my number one goal is to make sure I can do the same for her. So when people asked for my backup plan I told them there isn't a backup and that I was gonna become a professional athlete.

Present
Today I play and go to school at Adams State University. As I grew up I noticed that I needed a back up plan. So I came to school to major in Kinesiology in hopes of being a personal trainer or even an athletic coach. Kinesiology gives me a way to still be involved in sports because on the chance I don't become a professional athlete I am still doing something that I love.
I've coached kids since I was 14 and it helps me express myself, so my major is something that I've done before.
I tore my meniscus my senior season before coming to Adams State, so with my major I can understand where people with similar injuries come from in the aspect of coming back from something like that.
With me playing football it has brought the fun college experience to me. I've never had any older brothers or cousins I could look up to but with me being the youngest on the football team I have a lot of " brothers" that I can learn from.

Future
Nothing has really changed about my past besides me having a backup plan. My main focus is still being a professional athlete and having a degree in kinesiology so that I can have something to fall back on after my career. Also everything that my mother sacrificed and provided me and my siblings when I was a kid the main thing I always kept closest to my heart was ways that I can repay her. I plan on going to the pros and when I am a top athlete bringing in a lot of money I plan on going back to her and buying her a house and her dream car. As of right now I am going with the flow and if something changes meaning me transferring or not going pro after all I know that I will be a great coach/ personal trainer.
